With its breath of poison, it dried up the rivers and rent the earth in twain. The cries of the people rose up in a ceaseless chorus of anguish. One day, a brave knight wielding a giant spear came up in battle against the dragon. For seven days and seven nights he fought, until finally he pierced the dragon through the heart. The dragon's corpse turned to stone, its blood flowed into the river, and with it, the knight's will seeped deep into the earth. The earth's scars healed, the people came out of hiding, and the story of the brave knight was passed down from generation to generation for millennia to come. The indomitable "Dragonsbane," Sigurd. His bravery and loyalty were unparalleled. A more noble knight there was none, for he helped the weak, stood up to the strong, and was a true friend to justice. Dragon's blood flows through his veins and causes his body to become more dragonlike as he uses his power, a process that is intensely painful. He is able to pinpoint the locations of other dragons using his dragon sense, but doing so only amplifies the pain, thus increasing his hate of dragons and ensuring that the blood on his lance will always be fresh. As his draconic transformation progressed, he lost the light in his eyes, and scales began to grow over his skin. He could no longer sleep on account of the pain, and he was sustained only a searing hatred that kept his mind sharp. It was then that he met a man with hair flowing to his shoulders, who spoke in a soothing tone and offered his sympathies. "Great and noble knight, it would seem impure blood is starting to tarnish your virtue. I cannot imagine the pain you must be feeling. Is it really necessary for you to endure it alone?" His consciousness muddled from fatigue, Sigurd lashed out in rage and pointed his lance at the stranger's neck. "Unfortunately, I am not the one who is the source of your anger..." The man suddenly disappeared, then continued speaking from behind Sigurd. "...but I do know how to heal you, heh heh..." That was the first time Sigurd and Loki met. Absorbing the souls of "kings" or "queens" would reverse Sigurd's transformation, and grant him even greater power. That was the treatment of which Loki spoke. Sigurd didn't need any more power. He just wanted to rid his body of the foul blood that ran through it. But where could he find these "kings" and "queens"? He wasn't about to kill innocent people--pain or no pain, the idea went against his fundamental beliefs. That's when Loki told him of the one who was trying to change the world by awakening the avatars of chaos, the one responsible for everything. As soon as he heard Loki's words, a murderous rage filled Sigurd's body.
