It has the same properties as the holy sword of Arthur, and is imbued with astral energy that gives it the will to seek out its target. As such, it never misses its mark. Only those who are worthy can wield the spear, and should anyone other than Odin attempt to throw it, Gungnir will double back and pierce them in the heart. There are those who like to gossip and imagine to themselves a faceoff involving the god of thunder's vajra and Odin's Gungnir. In fairness, both weapons have their own will, and both have a limited range of flight, making them good subjects of comparison. The fact that the two gods have never "officially" dueled only further fuels public interest in the debate. Contrary to what one might expect, Odin has actually met most of the "kings" and "queens" living in Latecia. This is in part thanks to her wisdom and the knowledge she has access to, and in part due to her own journey to find powerful souls for Valhalla. Among those whom she has met, there have been some still so inexperienced that they failed completely to catch her eye, while others have been so formidable that she could not ignore them. Of course, not all have agreed with her views, and those of a more chaotic nature have often gone against her wishes. In rare cases, she has even had to directly dispose of some of them. Upon seeing the "queen of flame," he immediately identified her as an enemy of Valhalla and rushed at her, despite the fact that he didn't stand a chance against her at the time. If Odin hadn't thrown her spear at that moment, "he" would probably be eating out of a straw for the rest of his life. In short, he's not the sharpest tool in the shed. His coming was something even she didn't expect. The construction of Valhalla needed as much help as possible, but when the ragged young man appeared with a boom of thunder, all he had brought was a giant hammer. He didn't exactly inspire confidence, but she gave him work anyway, knowing she could kick him out if anything went south. As a result, Valhalla's construction finished a full two years ahead of schedule. The time she spent with him was not something she would soon forget. One of her favorite pastimes was watching him struggle to do in 10 steps what normal people could accomplish in 8 or less. However, despite his methods being rougher and generally not as well thought out, he had a peculiar talent to produce results twice as good as others. She would often remind herself he was nothing more than a pawn, and yet whenever he laughed, she couldn't help but get butterflies. They day he left with a boom of thunder, she was overcome by an inexplicable aching in her stomach. He hasn't returned since. She won't readily admit it, but she really enjoyed their time together. There were many who thought highly of him, and considered him to be both a great sorcerer and a highly respectable young sage. Of course, Odin knew Loki's true colors--his insatiable greed, and his cunning that knew no bounds. Loki was the type of man who could sacrifice himself to satisfy his own interest. He was an interesting one, to say the least. Again in pursuit of his interests, Loki had decided to sacrifice Odin. He was prepared to give up without hesitation all the good favor he had accrued over his lifetime, as well as his sacred duty as Valhalla's messenger. However, he could tell that Odin knew, and so he waited for when the time was ripe--for when he could give her a poisoned apple, and for when he could drive her through with his dagger. It is a testament to his capabilities, thought, that even knowing all of this, Odin still kept him at her side. The man had the form of a dragon. She had never met him, but she guessed he was another "king." He was strong, fast, and deadly, all to a strange degree, or so she thought as she nimbly dodged one of his powerful attacks. She knew something was amiss when she found her spear driven into the altar, shooting light up into the heavens. It had happened during the short time she had lost consciousness. As soon as she took her spear, her opponent leaped up from out of nowhere and rent the ground with a single blow, as thought he had been waiting for her. His giant lance had left a long cut where it grazed her face. Her thoughts where elsewhere, and while she needed to focus on the battle, a mysterious power emanating from her spear gave her the assurance that she wouldn't lose. She knew Loki was connected to it all, but she was going to need to end the fight before thinking upon it too deeply. Dodging another attack, she hurled her spear at her assailant. Thanks to the knowledge hidden beneath her eye, she had the access to know anything she wanted at any time. The combination of her unique calling and wisdom made her into something brand new, not bound by cause and effect. As she was let free into the world, she began to carve out her own way. Valhalla, a beautiful paradise constructed by Odin. Many people believe the city is home to the slumbering souls of powerful warriors that will be freed in the last days to join a holy war, but the truth is a little different. Odin's purpose was in no way preparation for war. She wanted to gather those who would march forward as noble explorers. The more they thought they were doing something of great value, the better; those were the ones that produced better results. To her, they were simply a means to an end. As time passed, there was very little new to speak of, save for one of her messengers named Loki, who had recently taken longer and longer breaks in between expeditions. His movements had been suspicious, and Odin noticed that there began to be more and more places across Valhalla that her vision could not penetrate. Still, he was just one of many pieces on the board. No matter how he tried, he could never gain the upper hand... Odin focused once more on the woman in front of her: Sigrun, one of Vahalla's greatest warriors. She had requested an audience. "I want to see the place where the warriors' spirits lay," she said, unable to hide her confusion at her own question. Odin tapped on her eyepatch while she stared at the woman. She must have received intel from somewhere--or someone...Odin rose up and said, "Very well. Follow me." Losing one as elite as Sigrun wasn't worth the cost. Odin led the Valkyrie forward, ready to put her doubts to rest. Sigrun spread her wings and followed Odin. Just a little further, Odin thought as a sneer crept onto her upper lip.
