He had just decimated a giant mutated spore that would have covered the world in overgrowth if left unchecked, and on his way back Shiva encountered a young man. The young man awkwardly called him "mentor" and asked him to help make him powerful. Shiva turned him away, but the man was persistent, and bowed himself down in front of Shiva. At once, an intense irritation overtook Shiva, but at the same time he felt a certain excitement start to bubble up within him. It was slight, but it gave birth to something he had never experienced in his long life of destruction. A small change had begun to take place in the life of he who destroyed change. The young man acquired a large sword that he always carried with him. Unfortunately, wielding the sword left him without a free hand, which Shiva recognized as inefficient. Shiva had been born with floating "eyes" he could control at will, which enabled him to track every movement in any situation and effectively left him without a blind spot. The man, however, had no such luxury, making fighting without a free hand all the more dangerous. Luckily, the source of the man's strength was lightning, which Shiva wagered he could use to control his weapon (without using his hands, of course). What Shiva had first taught the young man on a whim about controlling his power had turned out to be surprisingly effective. That is not to say he was a good mentor-he wasn't, though this was not surprising for someone whose entire life had focused on destruction and oblivion up to that point. Fortunately, despite his mentor's shortcomings the young man had immense talent and the dedication to go with it. However, the two never talked about why the young man wanted such power. "Don't ask, don't tell" was their unspoken rule.
